A native of Newark, N.J.; Zachary R. Sharif always had a passion for expressing his creativity. Growing up, he would often sing, imitate characters from television, or play music at high volumes. Overall, he is most comfortable when dancing to any kind of beat. Often called "ZipLocK" or "Zip" for short, his favorite dance styles are popping, breaking, and locking. He's heavily influenced by 80s culture, the sounds of Daft Punk, and Michael Jackson. His influences also include Boogaloo "Shrimp" Chambers and Jeffrey Daniel.
Starting from 2003, he's traveled in the United States to compete and teach dance to students of all ages. This includes Western Illinois University(Illinois), Hampton University(Virginia), and in New York on Showtime at The Apollo! He's also performed on television with his dance group by the name of "Envy" on the BET and MTV networks. One of his fondest memories is traveling to Canada to enter a world dance competition. Although "Zip" didn't advance to the semi-finals, the diverse experience was the highlight of his trip!
Through dance, his goal is to inspire others to pursue their dreams with dedication and an open mind.
